De installatie is doorlopend te bezoeken en wordt drie keer per dag kort geactiveerd via een performance (tijden volgen snel op de website).

Wat als troost een plek is waar je in kunt stappen, zoals je een landschap betreedt?
In een wereld die steeds sneller beweegt, groeit het verlangen naar ruimten waarin de tijd vertraagt en waar hoop en troost voelbaar worden.

Tijdens het traject van Cultuur & Natuur in de Bierumer School onderzoeken Nina Iggy en Jos Jacob hoe troost als zo’n ruimte kan worden benaderd. Daarbij laten zij zich inspireren door processen in de natuur, waarin wat sterft wordt opgenomen en de voedingsbodem vormt voor iets nieuws. Een lichaam vergaat, maar maakt tegelijk nieuw leven mogelijk. Dood en leven zijn geen tegenpolen, maar liggen in elkaars verlengde.

Vanuit dit uitgangspunt richt het onderzoek zich op intieme installaties waarin deze beweging zichtbaar wordt: plekken waarin iets zich opnieuw vormt. Binnen deze installaties onderzoeken zij hoe troost, hoop en verwondering kunnen verschijnen, niet als vaststaand gegeven, maar als iets dat zich aandient in relatie tot materiaal, tijd en omgeving.

Het onderzoek start tijdens een residentie in Bierum, als onderdeel van het traject Cultuur & Natuur, waar de focus ligt op inhoudelijke verdieping en het ontwikkelen van eerste vormen van het materiaal. Deze onderzoeken worden getest in een publieke setting tijdens Terug naar het Begin. Vanuit deze ervaringen wordt het werk verder ontwikkeld in verschillende contexten, waaronder De Proef, Paradigm en Pictura.

Nina Iggy en Jos Jacob werken als beeldend kunstenaars en multidisciplinaire makers op het snijvlak van performance, installatie en ruimtelijke choreografie. In hun praktijk ontwikkelen zij site-specifieke werken waarin lichaam, materiaal en omgeving voortdurend op elkaar inwerken. Vanuit een fysieke en intuïtieve benadering ontstaan installatieve situaties en performances in een rauwe, zintuiglijke beeldtaal. Werk dat de diepste lagen van het menselijk bestaan verkent en invoelbaar maakt voor het publiek.

Deze manier van werken vormt ook het vertrekpunt van dit onderzoek. Vanuit hetzelfde vocabulaire richten zij zich op intieme installaties waarin processen van afbraak en opbouw zichtbaar worden: plekken waarin iets zich opnieuw vormt. Hun werk beweegt zich tussen vergankelijkheid en de schoonheid van natuurlijke processen, steeds in relatie tot de wereld van nu.

Tijdens Terug naar het begin wordt het publiek uitgenodigd zich in deze werelden te begeven en, waar dat zich aandient, een interactie aan te gaan met het werk, dichtbij of op afstand, en zich zintuiglijk te verhouden tot wat zich in de ruimte ontvouwt.

What if comfort is a place you can step into, like entering a landscape?
In a world that is moving ever faster, the desire grows for spaces in which time slows down and where hope and comfort become tangible.

During the trajectory of Culture & Nature at the Bierumer School, Nina Iggy and Jos Jacob explore how comfort can be approached as such a space. In doing so, they are inspired by processes in nature, in which what dies is absorbed and becomes the nourishment for something new. A body decomposes, but at the same time enables new life. Death and life are not opposites, but exist in extension of one another.

From this starting point, the research focuses on intimate installations in which this movement becomes visible: places where something is re-forming itself. Within these installations, they explore how comfort, hope, and wonder can emerge, not as fixed givens, but as something that presents itself in relation to material, time, and environment.

The research begins during a residency in Bierum, as part of the Culture & Nature trajectory, where the focus lies on deepening the conceptual work and developing the first forms of the material. These explorations are tested in a public setting during Terug naar het Begin. From these experiences, the work is further developed in different contexts, including De Proef, Paradigm, and Pictura.

Nina Iggy and Jos Jacob work as visual artists and multidisciplinary makers at the intersection of performance, installation, and spatial choreography. In their practice, they develop site-specific works in which body, material, and environment continuously interact with one another. From a physical and intuitive approach, installative situations and performances emerge in a raw, sensory visual language, work that explores the deepest layers of human existence and makes them tangible for the audience.

This way of working also forms the starting point of this research. From the same vocabulary, they focus on intimate installations in which processes of decomposition and construction become visible: places where something is re-forming itself. Their work moves between transience and the beauty of natural processes, always in relation to the world of today.

During Terug naar het begin, the audience is invited to enter these worlds and, where it presents itself, to engage in an interaction with the work, close by or at a distance, and to relate in a sensory way to what unfolds in the space.
